Wire Undersize

To satisfy the code's arbitrary specification of a 15 a breaker on 14 ga. wire , I suppose it oughta have a 15 a breaker. and that's what I'm going to put on my 14 ga circuits.

Yep. Sometimes you do things because there are good solid technical reasons to do it. Other times you do it because the rule book says to, even if the technical reasons for it are maybe not real clear.

One thing I will say... 60? C 140? F is pretty darned hot. you can lay your hand on it, but you ain't gonna keep it there very long.

I wouldn't want the insulation on any cables in my house anywhere near that temperature.

In addition, these conductors are ran in attics and wall cavities with insulation where heat dissipation is not adequate.
