I was checking wire connections on wire lugs to cb's and disconnects and notice some of the wires were harder at the lug areas for about a foot in distance compared to the rest of the wire . these cables were 1/0 3/0 cables is this normal ? Wires are 10- 20years . thw -thwn type.

Sounds like there was extra heat buildup at the terminals. This usually happens when the termination was not tight.
