Can they be wired in along with hard wired ones. Meaning i already have 4 hard wired but interested in adding 3 locations.

I just install some last week.

Four in one part of the house and two on the other end of the house (flat roof) They worked perfectly along with the hard wired models.

Wireless smoke detectors

The residence is 40's. 2 story with sheetrock over shiplap. No remodel work is being done. The owner just wants smoke detectors (I can not blame them). Just to get hard wiring to all the areas would create extensive repair work.

Thank you folks for bringing these to my attention!

I have a mid-70's home where I don't trust the smoke detectors (only one on each level, nothing in the bedrooms). The one on the main level has been known to go off if somebody is showering (it's located just outside the bathroom, of course  ) ... but didn't go off when I burned up a fry pan in the kitchen and the level was filled with visible smoke!

I could theoretically use the hardwired model (with 'transmitter') at that location and make the rest of the house safer with the wireless ones.

Since there's no wiring changes involved ... I don't have to add AFCI ... correct?

(I'd be surprised to find an AFCI breaker for the panel that's in the basement!)

The other option is to leave it all as is and just move! (Moving next summer is actually the plan!)
