What if it’s a metallic wireway?Has to be exposed with few exceptions 378.10 & 386.12
376.10What if it’s a metallic wireway?
So we can run it concealed as long as we provide access to conductors?Art 386
that is NOT what it says.So we can run it concealed as long as we provide access to conductors?
386.12 says you can conceal it except as permitted in 386.10…that is NOT what it says.
So I wanna run a wireway from the basement through a couple of floors, and the wireway is going to be concealed, is there anyway to do it?Reading 101 386.12 Uses NOT Permitted
I don't see how since it does not say you can run it thru a floor. Only thru a wall. You could always make some kind of accessible chase that went through the floors and install it in the chase. So I wanna run a wireway from the basement through a couple of floors, and the wireway is going to be concealed, is there anyway to do it?
376.10 Uses Permitted. The use of metal wireways shall be
permitted as follows:
(1) For exposed work.
(2) In any hazardous (classified) location, as permitted by
other articles in this Code.
(3) In wet locations where wireways are listed for the
purpose.
(4) In concealed spaces as an extension that passes transversely
through walls, if the length passing through the
wall is unbroken. Access to the conductors shall be maintained
on both sides of the wall.
Too risky.. like you said, it doesn’t say anything about passing through floorsI don't see how since it does not say you can run it thru a floor. Only thru a wall. You could always make some kind of accessible chase that went through the floors and install it in the chase.
I mean yea because it takes up less space …Is this related to your other thread about "Running raceways from meter bank to apartments in high rise building?"
I have seen busway run vertically between floors in some office buildings. I never looked close enough to see how it went between floors. Now that you mention fire stopping, I wonder how they did it.Is this related to your other thread about "Running raceways from meter bank to apartments in high rise building?"

I thougth that in that other thread it was pretty much agreed upon that using a wireway for that purpose wasn't feasible.I mean yea because it takes up less space …
