I had to rent some additional space for grain storage, and these bins have a removable floor auger that attaches to a pivot point and spins in circle around the floor if the grain bin.

They had it connected with 12/2 UF and it one of the truck drivers just let it spin in circles until the wire pulled apart.

Is there any sort of device purpose built for this? I need some type of coupling for conductors that will spin freely; I’m thinking something like a clock spring but rated for 20A @ 250v.

Mount a bracket on the floor to stop it from spinning after one time around the silo. Should cost you 5 bucks:D

Awesome ...: thank you.

Yes, the entire assembly including the motor spins about the floor of the silo.

Not sure if serious or not but it has to keep spinning by design.

Actually, I was half serious.

I have seen quite a few bins with grain sweeps that had a bracket mounted on the floor or on the wall that stopped the sweep/auger after one time around the bin. then the bin gets cleaned, the sweep shoved off the stop/bracket, and is ready to be filled again.

But it seems like you have a different situation?

I have never seen one of those. Certainly a good Idea.

Yeh it’s cord & plug; it’s removable. Once the level is low enough that it’s not gravity feeding into the under-floor auger, you drop this thing in and let it walk circles around the floor augering corn to the center.

I've never had to do it and never stuck around once we got them going. Usually some one is in there with a shovel and broom while they are running. Yea, real safe.
