Keep in mind when you have longer circuits to where larger conductors are used for VD, you may need to also up size the EGC for the reason that you risk not clearing a fault.
If 6 awg is required for your 30a circuit because of VD, and you use #10 for the EGC, then the resistance may be too great to cause a fault to clear in time.
