Thanks to all who answered my first question!
Let me clarify, I have been instaslling UF-B (same as NMC) cable horizontally in masonry block and adobe construction for many years now.
The wire is laid on the required course of block
(between masonry boxes) and then the masons continue with the next course. Sometimes the cable is covered with mortar as the blocks are laid. Is this acceptable?

rbhebl,
Don't know where you live but here in Tucson there is a local amendment to 339-3 which adds another footnote which says " Type UF cable shall be permitted to be used in mortar joints of burnt and mud adobe construction in occupancies where the use of nonmetallic cable is permitted by this code"

The reason is burnt and mud adobe have no cells in which to run cables.

It does not mention concrete blocks so I must assume you cannot put it in the mortar joints of concrete blocks where you have hollow cells to put the cable in.

A bored hole is not embedded but if you intend to stub out the mortar and then have it poured over nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

No.

Wayne answered your question correctly in the last thread.

I'd say the difference is, mortar is generally gritty and abrasive to cables, whereas plaster and adobe mud are generally not gritty, in my opinion.
