WIRING LIGHTING FIXTURES

The contractor wire the 277 volts lighting fixtures in the building using the 120volts color codes
instead of using the 480Y/277V brown, orange, yellow and gray
he used 208Y/120 V black, red blue and white
The contractor did not refererence the specifications nor the NEC to do the wiring
can we make the contractor go back and re-wire the whole building?

What code do you think he was violating?

The NEC doesn't say it has to be those colors:

210.5(C)
(2) Means of Identification. The means of identification
shall be permitted to be by separate color coding, marking
tape, tagging, or other approved means.

As far as code, and I'm not an electrician, it sounds like he was in compliance. As for the called out specs, I guess that's something your company should address with them.....

I second this, the only real argument the OP will have is if the EC did not follow their specs. If the colors were specked then I would have the EC change the conductors to meet the specs.

also is all of the wiring in the building new or just the wiring he did? Is there even different voltages in the building? The only difference before the code was that the neutral had to be identified.
