Concerning wiring in wood frame (pole) buildings that are detached and used as a residential garage...

I have always used emt in these situations but some locals use nonmetallic cable only. Any thoughts?

My only concern would be protection from physical damage. Other than that, I see no real issue with using NM for this particular installation you describe.

WE did one a few months ago and used MC , we seem to be MC happy, used it a lot in the remodel we just did also

If you bid jobs using anything other nm in my area you will lose the job for sure cause someone else will beat your bid using nm.
