on field contractor roughs in more neutrals then come with systems furniture.

so he roughs in 4 total and systems furn. comes with 2

i basically want to say connect 3 of his to one of the systems furn neutral.

btw his are 12ga and Sys furn is oversized 10ga.

my boss says theres a code violation against this... says you can't parallel neutral conductors less than 1/0. but I can't seem to find it anywhere in the code.

is anyone familiar with this situation? Thanks

ps. I'm sure you guys picture the situation but just in case I attached a horrible paint diagram lol

He needs to use only one #12 neutral. As you stated parallel conductors must be #1/0 or larger.

These types of wiring problems are common when dealing with furniture partitions. Seems that the electrician, engineer and the furniture guy aren't always on the same page.

I would not question that it would technically be a violation of 310.4 and I would never condone a violation. That said, since each conductor has adequate amapcity on it's own, and since parallelling is allowed under certain specifics as pointed out in Exception 3, I sure wouldn;t be upset if they were paralleled... excuse me.."connected together"
maybe it's time to coin a new term: "redundant conductors"

That can be a problem if the job was roughed with cable.

Big time.
