Got a hot tub on one platform I put the disconnect on the facia of the deck that Hot Tub sitting on so you can’t see it from when you’re standing on the deck you can see it when you’re in the hot tub or you are working on the Hot Tub inspector saying it’s not within sight. he said since he couldn’t see it from the deck,

Within sight definition does not have a 360 encompass at any point on that Hot Tub I can see the disconnect it’s just cause he was lazy and did not doesn’t change the definition, correct.

He also denied me not having it on the same level readily accessible, but that’s for nonresidential and then his comment was well. I denied you from memory so you’re right on that part. He said that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Won’t let me add pictures for some reason, but either way it doesn’t have to be relatively accessible and it does. There’s no such thing as readably insight.

Now he could get me maybe for clearances cause it’s kind of in the bushes and it may not be exactly 3 feet deep. It may be like 30 to 34 but that’s fine cause I understand that but I’m not doing something I don’t have to do legally

Can’t post pictures for some reason.

Anyway, I think I mentioned it. The service tech for the Hot Tub completely see it. It’s on the same plane as him And to the left of them 10 feet the inspector even acknowledge that he could see it latter he just does not count that as within site.

A new county I am encroaching in, so I don’t like this guy already

680.13 along with art 100 definition of "within sight of" tells me what you said you have is likely compliant. As far as I can tell from the wording used it wouldn't even need to be within sight from the pump/control panel location on the spa, just within 50 feet (but no closer than 5 feet) and be visible from any part of the spa, nothing states it must be on same level or anything like that either.

From what you've described it sounds like the disconnect is within sight when at the control panel which is code compliant.

In Sight From (Within Sight From, Within Sight).
Where this Code specifies that one equipment shall be “in sight from,” “within sight from,” or “within sight of,” and so forth, another equipment, the specified equipment is to be visible and not more than 15 m (50 ft) distant from the other. (CMP-1)

He said he’s talking with the state Electrical Inspector. He said he has no problem with me challenging him. He says he likes that so that’s nice. Usually they get mad. I’m gonna have to apologize for my snarky message. The only thing I don’t like is I don’t have any opinions per se when I when he talks to the state Electrical Inspector, since he’s the one doing the talking

Now, unless Oregon has some stupid rulebook that I never heard of like the manufactured one I should be safe
