Didn't really know where to put this so here goes. What boots do you guys wear. I'm on a job right now where I will be up and down an 8' foot ladder all day and walking on hard concrete as well. I come home every day and my feet are killing me. What do you guys wear? This is kinda like a tool thread ain't it?

This has been discussed. My boots are below. They are heavy and tough but I feel protected in them and like them. (Timberland Pro Series)

Red Wings.
Don't skimp on footwear. Don't buy the 30$ boots at WalMart. Good boots cost much more, but it's well worth it.

Red Wings all the way. They take a little while to break in but once they do, you will never wear anything else. When I get a new pair, I treat them with a leather protectant spray and then I leave them outside in the weather for about two weeks and then there good to go.;)

I have a pair of Wolverines, and a pair of Redwings that I rotate back and forth between. Plan on spending 90 to 130 dollars for a decent set of boots, and try to buy American!

Red Wings have done well for me. My old pair, which are still quite usable, are 23 years old...they've been through job sites, Boy Scout camps, landscaping, and 22 years of salt, slush, and snowplowing. I did just get the toes restitched. The original Vibram soles are still on, there is still a little bit of tread left.

My new Red Wings are now 'dress up' boots... ;)

This is the truth. Get a good pair; they are well worth the price tag.

I'm wearing Rocky right now and they are doing all right. In the plant where I work I spend all day walking around on concrete, climbing ladders, walking up and down steps, and even some time sitting at my desk. I have found that no matter what boot I buy I need to invest the in little padded things you put down inside them to soften them up a bit, but other than that these Rockys are good.

I got steel toe, non-slip sole, electrical rated, waterproof, insulated, and puncture resistant just cuz you never know what you're going to be day from day to day (at least I don't). :)

Doc Martins make many Electrical hazard tested boots with air ride tech.

The Redwings with the concrete non-marking sole(it's kind opaque in color) are great for working on concrete. I immediately noticed a improvement in knee, shin, foot pain from being on concrete. Mine have about 1 year inside and 1 year of outside work on them and are still serviceable. For $230 dollars they better be. I'm tempted to try some of the $100 dollar Redwings next time around. If they last a year I get a new boot every year instead of two years or so. If they aren't comfortable when you put them on don't buy them. Breaking in boots is a myth. They should feel good when you put them on.

I'll go with the crowd to say don't skimp on boots. Cheap boots are a bad bargain.

I will go against the crowd on the subject of Red Wing's. I had heard for years how they were the end all of the boot subject. My experience was that if they lasted twice as long or cost half as much I would have been OK with them. It may have just been the model that I had but I didn't much more than a year out of them.

I'm currently wearing Rocky's. This is my second pair. They are about 16 months old and still are in great shape. I got about two and a half years out of my last pair.

In general terms I like the high boots rather than the ankle roller specials. I like them lined (not necessarily insulated). I always look for Vibram soles. Gore-tex. And definately some type of aftermarket foot bed.

The way I see it.....

If you need some land transportation, get a skateboard...if you need something a little better, settle for a moped...If you need a better way to get around, get a nice car or truck...if you need the most reliable and rugged, only a Hummer will do... if you need custom unmatched craftsmanship and status step up to a Roles Royce.

If you need some decent boots , get some Timberland's:roll:...if you need something a little better, settle for Wolverine or Diehard:roll: ...If you need an excellent pair of boot's get some Red Wing ,Danner ,or Thorogood:smile:... if your needs are rugged and a little better maybe some Wesco's or Nicks:smile:...If you looking for rugged boots in a league of there own that own the title of custom unmatched craftsmanship and status, step up to White's Boots:cool:.

The short summary of this would be if you are looking for a Hummer/Roles Royce hybrid for your feet...then theres only one... White's Boots.

White's boots aren't for posers...the cost is up there, but the American Made quality and fit are unmatched. It's kinda like somebody wanting a chair because they get tired of standing......you could settle for a bar stool.....get a lawn chair........or get that leather Lazy Boy with a cup holder.

:)

I work in the office and I still wear Double H's. They are a great lace up boot! Took awhile to break in but now they fit like a glove. Boots and jeans can be girlie too! Point is they cost me about 200 dollars but I have walked through swamps and muddy construction sites and 3 years later they still look new.

Another vote for steel toed EH rated Red Wings

Yeah DD's are available, I'll go with Good FooT wear is a most!

If on a ladder than it's not so much the foot wear per say but the cantilever action of riding the ladder on the ball of your feet,
verses the total foot print that you don't get standing on the ground!

I use to soak my Feet till I bought better shoes.

Besides good shoes are always required for actors! ...

Then again, I'm a two pair of socks a day...
