If you need to run say (2) 1” conduits within a shaft( say 10’x15’) from 1st floor to 6th floor, what are most practical ways to install the conduits in shaft and considerations? Really only two ways???

  • Via scaffold
  • If you have access to shaft on each floor no scaffold needed? How much access(access door?) would you need?
  • Bosun chair? Don’t think that’s used anyone more.

When we ran two 2" RGS conduits up the side of a ten-story apartment building for a roof-top cell site, I first assembled the top parts coming over the parapet of the roof and strapped the assembly in place, then lowered a rope with a hook on the end through the assembly.

My son threaded the rope through the first 10' length, hooked the hook on the end of the conduit, and I pulled it up. He climbed the scaffold, threaded and tightened the coupling, strapped the conduit to the strut, and we repeated the process, working from the top down.

The roof had a 4' wide ledge even with the roof that we had to go around, so the assembly (wish I had more pics) was up from the disconnect, a 90 over the wall, a 45 toward the edge of the ledge, a straight length, a 90 around the ledge, straight length, and a 45 to point down.

The second conduit was for the GEC, so it just had flex from the second conduit to the bonding plate.

Asking regarding indoor shaft.
So...
You can’t use that idea for an indoor shaft??
They both have vertical walls
it’s basically the same thing, you just won’t get wet if it rains when working on the indoor shaft..
