I?ve been running and racing mountain bikes since the early 90?s. At 47 years old I raced in my first solo 24 hour race and several 100 mile mountain bike races. I hate gyms and haven't been to one in years. I would rather be outside doing something.
When I?m not having fun riding I?m working out on the job, like carrying an extension ladder up 8 flights of stairs:confused:

Ahhh,I loved mountain biking. Never did 100 miles though. That sounds like a hoot. I bought a Giant NRS1 a month ago but been too busy to even get it out.

Cold turkey is the way to go, once you get past three weeks its all gravy. After three weeks its 95 percent mental. If you think about it just do something else not in your daily ritual to break the mental addiction. Sooner all later your stop relating certain activities with smoking.

Good for you, I quit cold turkey when I turned 30, almost 4 years ago, the first week is the hardest, but the cravings lasted a year, but every month gets easier, then you get to a point where you cannot stand the smell of smoke and cant believe you ever did it. Good luck to you.

I was actually hoping to put a few pounds on as well, that never happened... :)

I quit 11 years ago on November23rd.
Absolutely one of the hardest things I've ever done. I used the patch
and I don't think I could have done it without them. Gave me a little peace of mind to know I was getting nicotine even if I wasn't smoking.

What Stickboy said:

<Yeah,That!

Put it into $$$ and see how much you are spending on something so ridiculous. That's a motivator.

I just quit also after over 30 years. I have enjoyed watching my "Quit Meter" which you can download for free from here:
http://www.silkquit.org/stop-smoking/quit-meter.aspx

I have not smoked for One week, two days, 8 hours, 57 minutes and 14 seconds. 374 cigarettes not smoked, saving $79.67. Life saved: 1 day, 7 hours, 10 minutes.
