Working room

I've got a panel on the side of a house, sort of close to a corner. The homeowner placed a cedar hot tub close by and it's encroaching into the working room of the panel. When I'm standing in front of the panel I have proper clearances but getting to and away from it I have to "squeeze" through the bottleneck of the house and the tub which is about 2 feet.

Is this narrow passage to the panel adequate or shall I suggest we move the tub?

Exactly. I would be more worried about the clearances the tub has to have from electrical stuff.
 
I read through 680 and didn't see any specifics about distance from electrical equipment. I understand it being a good idea but where does the section layout specifics?
 
It's mostly common sense, but 680.12 states 5 feet minimum to the disconnect. If your panel is that close most electricians would use the breaker in it to use as the disconnect. 680.22 (D) States switching device. must be 5 ft away minimum. Breakers can be called a switching device. So there you have it.

As far as access and exits to the electric equipment you may be remembering 110.26 (C) . Not sure if that's for above 600 volts, amps or what.

I'm good on the disconnect. But there is another panel that is closer than 5 feet that contains nothing having to do with the tub.

not that I disagree but what code section would you use?

Article 100 Switching Devices (Circuit Breakers). Article 680.1 Scope: Applies to all bodies of water covered in this scope. (Spa or Hot Tubs). Article 680.42 (Parts 1 & Part 2) apply. Part 2/ Article 680.22(8)(C)
