Have looked but did not find something that suits.
1200 amp 6' wide gear, one door, unobstruted into another room ,which is the telephone room. Does the code allow this as means of egress from electrical room? The door will have correct hardware BUT it does not get you to real safety, but will get you out of the room. Is this all that is required. THANKS GEO

I am a little confused. How do you get into this room? Via the telephone room? Then how do you get into the telephone room? If you are saying that you go from the main hallway into the phone room, and then via a door into the electric room, and that this is the only door to the electric room, then I think you are OK.

At first reading, I thought you meant that there was one door from the outside world into the electric room, and a second door into the phone room, but that you can go no further than that (i.e., there is no other way to leave the phone room). If this is the situation, then I think it would not meet what I believe to be the intent, but it does appear to meet the words, as written. Keep in mind that "safe" is not the same thing as "convenient" or "happy." If you suddenly find yourself in a dangerous situation, and you decide to leave the area by going into a phone room from which you cannot otherwise escape, then you are at least safe. You can sit there for years. You won't like having to do so, and you might wish for an earlier rescue, but you are, as I say, for the moment at least, safe.
