I am powering a single pole switch off the load side of a GFCI. The switch powers a very low amperage fluorescent fixture. Would turning the switch on trip the GFCI?

What kwired said. But does this light require GFCI protection for some reason ? Is the GFCI in another room from this fixture ?

If the GFCI feeds other receptacles & then trips, your light won't work thus causing trouble shooting head aches.

I worked on some aquarium display flourescent lights that would trip the GFCI only when I used 2-lamp T8 GE instant start ballasts.

When I used a different manufacturer's ballast, I had no issues.

I have a fluorescent fixture in our bathroom that is on a GFCI, and a few of times a year, the GFCI will trip when you turn the light off.
