Would you use it, or not?

Those are not really for electrical boxes but rather for LV cut-in rings like the Caddy MPLS. The cutter comes in single a two gang versions.

I dunno, the web site clearly illustrates that it's for metal and plastic boxes as well.

Seems like one may end up cussing a lot when you hit over a stud. With a conventional saw you make a small cut and feel for studs before you cut out the rest of the hole. Just my $.02 worth of advice.

That's what a stud finder is for, or your knuckle.

When doing just an electrical job, I don't hang drywall.

Just install the boxes, the drywall guys rotozip the holes as they hang the rock.

Looks like a fancy DIY remodeler's toy.

You're correct for new construction and major remodels, not for a service call where a receptacle has to be added. That's all on the electrician. Just did one yesterday.

That's said I would not use that blade for the reason already mentioned. It's better to find an unexpected stud or blocking before the entire hole is cut out. I use my multi-tool with a standard blade to cut drywall.

Also I was trimming a new construction job today and found two boxes the drywallers covered up. It wouldn't help with that situation either since some feeling around with a hand saw is required to properly uncover them.

P.S. Don't you love it when they Rotozip your wires? :happyno:

Yes, but if you are using an electrical box you are going to have to modify the cutout for the ears, toggles etc with your saw. Might as well just cut it all with your saw and be done with it. For the LV rings it's a one shot deal.

And no, I wouldn't use it.
