I found 505.9(E), conduit made wrench tight and min. 5 threads. Is there another reference in the code, other than section 500 that requires rigid to be wrench tight? I looked in rigid and boxes and fittings but may have missed it. thanks.

From the '05:

250.92(B)(2)
314.23(E) & (F) & Exception (2)(f) & (H)(2)

et al

Do not confuse "wrenchtight" with "tight" [ ie, 250.92(B)(3) ]

Why this difference in terminology....I don't know.

One of the many benefits of having the NEC on a computer

Ok I have the nec handbook on my computer and I put in wrench tight and didn't come up with anything, what search info do you have or what did you type in to come up with that? thanks. kevin

wrenchtight is one word:smile:

EDIT TO ADD:

You should also notice I am using a 2002 NECH....so I have to flip over and cross reference the '05 NEC.
Sure I could just use "FIND" with Adobe, but the search in the NECH is just faster to flip and find what I really want...and gives you a "hit count".

I think the 2008 is a little different, I doesn't do the word thing on the right but does list the sections and number of references. thanks.
