I have thousands of capacitors in my house, but I do not think that is your question. I have boxes and drawers with all sorts of capacitors, fixed, variable, electrolytic, voltage variable, mica, Mylar, polystrene, tantalum, and so on.
If you are asking how many loads on my 120 V circuits do I have that provide a leading current phase shift, then maybe none. I have never measured my load current to the power company for phase shift, nor is this easy to do. There is no way I could get a clamp on probe on either of the supply lines. I could mockup a Hall device to read phase shift, but I could not get an accurate measure of current.

so you are asking what item in our homes actually cause the power factor to lead...I would have to examine that concept and see what toys I have would qualify..

100%. It's the same answer for everybody. There is capacitive reactance between my wrist watch and the light pole nearest to your house. Any two metal objects anywhere in the universe have capacitive reactance between themselves.
Now, if you want to know how many have sufficient capacitive reactance to result in a net leading power factor, my guess would be "none."

So I have examined my home and some friends of my homes and can find nothing that would cause a leading power factor.

How about "power factor corrected" switching power supplies on electronic equipment?

I would have to agree..the capacitors added to the energy star rate appliances do not over correct they only have to improve the appliance to 80% or more. one thing I am not up on is the power supplies on the plasma flat screens or your projection TV's.
