xfmr. primary taps??

I was reading the section on tap conductors and am still somewhat confused if I have a riser from a switchboard to multiple floors and there is a tap at each floor to a small 15kva xfmr. do I need overcurrent protection on the primary of the xmfr if I comply with the tap rule? The riser would be a single feeder tapped at each floor (max. of 5) thru a xfmr and to a panelboard, I just was not sure if this is acceptable when the same feeder is tapped multiple times with no overcurrent at any of the tap locations?

With transformers you have to look at both Article 450 and Article 240. The rules in 450 cover the protection of the transformer itself and the ones in 240 cover the protection of the conductors. You have to comply with both.
