Xfr Sw....SUSE or non-service rated

Existing 800a 208Y UG service. Utility CT cabinet and 800a MCB N3R distribution panel SUSE located on outside wall. Installation of a 100kw gen set and 800a auto xfr sw to back up service is required. AHJ (local building inspector) will allow a non-suse xfr sw fed from the CT cabinet and the load side to re-feed the 800a SUSE panel due to the location, right next to the panel.
Question is, doesn't the xfr switch need to be SUSE listed?

See post #6. The term escaped me also. The code never says "service rated".

230.66 Marking. Service equipment rated at 600 volts or
less shall be marked to identify it as being suitable for use
as service equipment. Individual meter socket enclosures
shall not be considered service equipment.

225.36 Suitable for Service Equipment. The disconnecting
means specified in 225.31 shall be suitable for use as
service equipment.
 
Actually there are several different service entrance ratings available, SUSE is just the more commonly mentioned one.

Suitable for Use as Service Entrance (SUSE) equipment comes with a neutral to ground bonding jumper, for field installation/removal. Most panels and disconnect switches are built like this.

Suitable for use only as service equipment comes with a neutral to ground jumper that is factory installed and not removable. All-in-one (meter+distribution), panels are built like this.

Actually there are additional requirements that are apply to service equipment.
