Is it code to run a separate ground for Transformer. What I mean by that is not using the equipment ground within the conduit with the phase conductors. I thought you had to run a separate ground to something like a ground bar or building Steel.

You need to clarify what you mean when you say separate ground. Are you referring to the grounding electrode conductor?

You need an EGC from the source feeding the tranny.

You need to run an EGC/SSBJ to the load from the tranny.

You need a GEC going from XO, where you derive your neutral off the secondary, to an electrode.

You need a SBJ from XO to the tranny case, usually a terminal is mounted, and the SBJ and both EGCs are connected there.

Off hand not sure..i just thought down ground from xfrmr was always ram to building ground bar, steel etc.
Transformers over 1kVA with a grounded secondary system are required to have an GEC run to the nearer of the metal water pipe electrode or the building structural steel electrode if either exists. If neither exists, to any of the other electrodes mentioned in 250.52. If none of those exist, the service has a noncompliant GES.
