Y’all ever wired a goat house?

Had a customer that had put her baby goats in her newly remodeled bath, she said it was too cold to put them into the barn. They chewed through the new 3/4" bead board wall and did even nick the electrical wire for light switch. Luckily for them they only got the neutral.
That given I would suggest all wiring to be put into EMT and metal boxes. They will chew on anything so PVC or ENT won't help much either.

Yeh definitely. I used GRC outside in a couple of places where I brought power in, and EMT everywhere else. They let the goats out to roam every morning, and the like to go into the chicken coup and eat their feed. I did that install a couple of years ago and it was all EMT as well.

There are some fans outside, and I drilled holes to route the cords up high into the feed store room where I have switched receps for the fans. Today one of them was on the railing chewing right where I had the holes drilled. I haven’t ran the cords in yet, and I told the owner we’d have to put some wire mesh or something up in the corners to protect the cords. Can’t stop these little guys.

How about cutting off the plug, running the fan cord through flexible metal conduit, then attaching a new plug on the end of the cord?

That’s a good thought. Along the same lines, I could also use a GRC Nipple as a sleeve. I only need to protect about 6” of open area; beyond that the cord is behind the fan and the goats can’t get their head in there. That way if the fan has to be replaced, the customer doesn’t have to call me to replace the cord end. Thanks.

That recep with the Sealtight is an afterthought; otherwise would’ve set another box when running pipe .

Pic #3. What is that catching all those deer flies?
Pic #4. For a second there I thought a little goat had already climbed up in the rafters. Glasses shows it’s a light…😂

You buy all that pipe, connectors, boxes and clamps in black or you paint it before installation? I say before, because no paint in the raw wood.
It looks too nice for goats.

I painted this pipe only because it was a long lead time for factory painted. I had several factory painted connectors and couplings from previous jobs at this location. This customer wants everything in pipe and always painted black. He will pay for boxes of connectors and couplings knowing I’ll eventually use it. The only time it’s not black is if we have to match another paint color.

And yes painted before it goes up.

It’s coated in glue. Idk what is there to attract them.

A friend of mine who has goats also has a motor driven gate to his property, and his goats kept getting out when the gate opened. He rigged a system that rings a bell when the gate opens and deposits food at a location removed from the gate so that when the gate opens the goats go for the food rather than rushing the gate. The goats are smart enough to associate the bell with the food drop but not smart enough to realize they are being manipulated.
Are you sure it is the goats that are being manipulated?
