bob now that is some insomnia reading because that would put me to sleep..I read that stuff early am so I am not tired at all..it would ruin the rest of my my day reading that in the pm..standard contract for the power company to elevate all responsibility for the power company if something goes wrong with the system..it also includes the issues in which the signer of the contract will reimburse the POCO for..
 
My PV project Mgr. also described a common arrangement where the investors and PV-installation contractor don't get paid before commissioning, or state/POCO rebates start flowing; commonly up to 3 years later for small commercial 500kw.

If your contractor put this in your lap, because they're not aware of this process, and aren't aware of the payment delays, your voluntary-research time and out-of pocket material purchases may gradually increase. You could be carrying that torch already.

I have no idea what you mean, I am paid by the hour for my time and I use the company AMEX for purchases. :smile:
 
Bob, those right-coast contractors aren't working modern business practices. Here on the left coast, if not enforced its not necessary.

My experience with the PV business is pure entertainment. GC got Project Mgrs. to finance over $1600 in material, out of pocket, before they quit. Draftsman replaced PV engineering firm, & owner's friend puts on Dog & Pony safety inspections. I'll stop there, before I appear complicit. Paychecks are enforceable, but Credit cards and company trucks were gone ages ago.

I believe they are referring to the Interconnection Agreement and also the Power Purchase Agreement. In the case where a developer is building a generation facility and they are not the consumer of power there needs to be a power purchase agreement.

The PPA shows that there is someone that intends to use or market the power. The IA is a long process which involves system impact studies and such. A utility or other party in which you are connecting to... i.e. the grid needs to ensure that the location or area in which the connection is being made can support the power flow.

We have a someone in our department that handles utility relations, and these documents take up a lot of his time!
