Hi there. Got a 5RK120GN-EMP brake motor made by a company in China called ZD. I purchased the motor second hand and was assured there was nothing wrong with it. The specs on the label read: 110V/60Hz, 3 Amps, 35uf / 250V AC, S3-50%-6s. Coming out of the motor there is a blue, red and black wire. I isolated the blue wire and connected the black and red wires to a cord plug. After plugging it into an 110V AC outlet I noticed the motor was making an attempt to run but unable to because it seemed to me the brake was engaging. The brake function of this motor is not required for my current application so I removed the cap on the back of the motor housing, disconnected the 2 white wires feeding the brake mechanism and then completely removed the actual brake from the motor. Put the cap back on plugged it back in and now it is making a buzzing/humming sound refusing to start. The two white wires which I disconnected above were attached to mini circuit board (comprising of what seems to me a mosfet and 2 resistors) which in turn were connected to the brake mechanism I removed. Is this buzzing sound I am hearing caused from the brake removal? Or was I just duped into purchasing a defective motor? I am not well versed in electronics so If some one can shed some light It would be very much appreciated otherwise no worries.
