Re: Zinsco Panels

Well southernboy you learned a very important lesson dont asssume it`s dead unless you check it out first(belive me I have a collection of blown up side cutters to reminde me of my stupidity.I`m not fond of volt sticks either.A good old wiggy or a newer fluke wll save $28.00 a rattle a ll day long. The journeyman that broke me in instilled in me if in doubt test it out :D The life you save might be your own.

Re: Zinsco Panels

Never found any quality in there products. But that just my opinion.
I'll second that remark!
Kind of funny that when GE bought RCA the cold solder joint problem started showing up in the RCA's and few other brand names they bought.

I agree with that the resistance of the wire might have kept the breaker from tripping.

Re: Zinsco Panels

the resaler is one of those guys who sells the odd parts that no one else carries. I took a few boxes of old panel parts to the dump a while back. didn't know about this guy. His helper told me not to tell the guy, sort of like telling him you just threw away his dog, as that is what he really wants, all the odd old parts.

I got so used to having a blown pair of pliers i started buying them new that way, the klein needle nose with 12 stripper and buchanan crimper.

Re: Zinsco Panels

If you used it on a zinsco or an fpe product you might have a # 8 stripper.Great for stripping but sucks for cutting :D

Re: Zinsco Panels

Just a safety note: Never cut a neutral or ground with a hot, even if you THINK that the circuit is de-energized! I don't know about you but $30.00 is still $30.00 and I had rather spend it on more important things, like my lady or a cold one!

Re: Zinsco Panels

Safety first. Test your tester on a known live wire before testing the unknown wire.
It is always good to test the tester because testing the tester test to te..st ..er t.. :p

Re: Zinsco Panels

I've had more than a few GE "? size" breakers take their time to trip out on short circuits. Got a couple of wire strippers with extra notches in `em to prove it, too
