AFCI in bedrooms and other rooms

AFCI in bedrooms and other rooms

I inspected a new home with AFCI in the bedroom, it also appears that the home office/den and living room are wired to the same AFCI. Is this okay with NEC or just bad wiring on the part of contractor?

Any expert help appreciated.

I haven't read through this entire string but, to my experince there s no restriction on the application of arc fault interrupters,

There is nothing at all wrong with wiring all these together. As far as the smoke alarms are concerned, they must be interconnected, so if the house was built under the 2002 or 05 NEC the bedroom alarms would have to be AFCI protected and the easiest way to interconnect the others in the house would be to feed them from a bedroom AFCI circuit.

Before Indiana deleted the AFCI requirement, I would install an additional AFCI circuit that only served a non-bedroom lighting circuit and all of the smoke detectors. I donot believe in putting SDs on a dedicated circuit in a dwelling.
