Receptacle as required lighting outlet?

I think if the "luminaire" is of plug and cord type the receptacle works for the lighting outlet since it is fulfilling the task of being intended for the direct connection of a luminaire.

Well, the installer may have thought that as well but, the fact of the matter is that you have a "receptacle outlet" not a "lighting outlet". You would have a "cord and plug connection" not a "direct connection"

Now, if you wanted to hang a "showcase" for a luminaire on the garage ceiling you might be able to sell the receptacle as the required "lighting outlet".:wink:
