Receptacle as required lighting outlet?

Well, the installer may have thought that as well but, the fact of the matter is that you have a "receptacle outlet" not a "lighting outlet". You would have a "cord and plug connection" not a "direct connection"

Now, if you wanted to hang a "showcase" for a luminaire on the garage ceiling you might be able to sell the receptacle as the required "lighting outlet".:wink:
