Is there a Code or standard that stipulates a time period, within which the testing of Earth Resistance for an installation must be carried out to see whether the earthing system is working or not??

You may find some information related to US Govt standard AFI 32-1065. Find on whole building design guide - www.wbdg.org. This is an Air Force instruction manual which has schedules of testing and types of testing recommended.

we have Cu rod ground beds >50 yrs old
they are tested twice a year
initially they must be <4 Ohm, typically they are lower
after a year or two they 'settle in' and usually decrease 10-20%
consistent after that

in over 50 locations we have never had one that intially met spec subsequently exceed spec during the biannual testing

What is the source of the testing requirement? Insurance company? Industry standard? Internal standard?
