This 3-way rotary brass switch assembly in a porcelain body is made by the Perkins co. and was removed today. I saw it at my wholesalers on the counter and looked at the date and it was from 1901. Still was working but the one adjacent to it lost the nut off of the back spin shaft, so they decided to replace both.

Perkins 10 was what it said on the back.

I guess they thought it was too much trouble to find a nut to repair a perfectly good device.

Amazing how everything's just throwaway, nowadays. :)

actually the threads were a bit stripped. probably from the nut wriggling loose over the decades. BTW that screwless coverplate weighed in at about 2 lbs.
