not how i would do it but ?
There will be a connector put on the end of the pipe for the bushing

There are numerous ways to do this in a code compliant manner, the one depicted in the photo isn't one of them.

one could take an L shaped bracket and bolt it to the back of the PB and bring the MC to a connector in the bracket.

That would not be needed, but a proper MC connector is.

Cow's suggestion is a good one. Plus with the j-box one could use a whole lot smaller elbow as well.

I know you said you did not do this. Did your friend do it himself?

Looks better.

Are the MC cables secured at least 1.25" from the face of the studs? The part that goes through the stud holes is OK.

It looks better than the first photo and it seems to be code compliant, however I would suggest using Erico Caddy CJ6 MC Cable supports to strap that MC. It is a much quicker than screwing to the inside of the studs and it keeps the cable far away from the drywallers' screw guns.
