I have heard you can't use water to ease driving rods, but I cannot find it in the NEC... :?What would be the objection to pouring water around the ground rod that is to be driven ?Oh ... just have to add ... the NEC specifically says 'don't use the water trick.'
Heck it rains on ground rods.

Any idea why? Put a little water on inspector and he will drive in ground easier also:happyyes:It's not specified in the NEC. But many AHJs have that rule.

Supposedly, using water prevents good contact twixt the rod & the dirt.

I 1.) didn't see it and 2.) wasn't IN it.
So...do you need to build a shelter over the ground rod location so it never gets wet?
Because we all know that water would never soak into the ground around the rod.
Actual written, adopted rules or 'what we like to see' rules.
