I get involved - Boiler Flames

Speaking of CO poisoning...I recently learned that those small pulse-ox meters...those little things you put on your finger...they cannot tell the difference between properly oxygenated blood and CO poisoned blood.

From what I have seen/heard they are not extremely accurate anyway, but a easy to use thing for quick checking to get general idea of what is going on. Kind of like how a wiggy may tell you you have near 120 volts but won't tell you if it is actually 118, 121, 124...

Very true. I've noticed the flame on my stove burner is yellow when there are paint fumes in the house.

All about fuel and oxygen mix.

Can even see this if you ever mess with acetylene/oxygen mixing torches. There is that one sweet spot where mixture is just right, change either valve and flame gets more yellow to it unless you also change the other valve to get optimal mixing rate again.

I don't see any blue.
I have as shot, up from below, but still yellow.
I'm seeing discreet patches which I think are the actual jets and they appear to be not-yellow. The yellow color I believe is due to the temperature of the interior surfaces. I could be wrong.

Those flames look very lazy and uneven, usually a severe lack of combustion air supply. Or could be too much gas for the designed air flow, such as a bad or improperly adjusted gas regulator.

Check for a restricted cumbustion air supply source. Check the gas pressure at the burner manifold pressure port and compare to the specifications for the burner.

Could this be the result of LP vs NG fuel?

I presumed it had been working correctly and now has abnormal flame?

Conversion between LP and NG involves changing size of orifices the gas passes through to get proper fuel/air mixture, and even then possibly some tweaking of air flow if designed for it.

Another possibility is not enough incoming air, or even situation where there is negative or even positive air pressure and it isn't drafting correctly., exhaust fan or other air processing equipment with not enough make up air?
