Hi,
I haven't installed a service in a while and someone asked me for a number.

I'm not asking what you charge, but rather I am asking what increased percentage overall would you say you're charging today 3-2-22 compared to 3-2-20?

Remove existing 100 amp service. Install new 200 amp.

I did some Googleing for rough material prices and what I'm charging for my current labor rate and the price blows me away.

I recall years ago hearing contractors charging or quoting the number I currently came up with thinking at the time they where out of their minds.

I understand it's going to be what it's going to be, the number I come up with is around +- 65% more (+- 70% mat. +- 35% labor)( In NJ, regular breakers, no exterior emergency switch, added spd). I would like to confirm that these numbers are inline for the times we are in and that "I'm" not necessarily in left field.

Thank you

Are you able to leave the existing pb in place and just add another one? Then little in the way of reworking anything existing.

He wants to upgrade to 200. It was a phone call and he left a message for a "free estimate", so I wanted to get a guesstimate together for him and return his call.

Meant to add, This pricing was using SEU AL,
I know the particulars are different here and there, I was looking for some type of % just in general. Thank you.

Thank you. I agree, but as mentioned I think he's looking for a 200 amp panel and service upgrade.

You can about triple the material cost, then add what ever your labor is now vs 2020.
Just a FYI, you had better put a clause in your estimate that says the cost could increase due to ever changing material costs. Unless you get a confirmed price from your SH for a time period, get a signed contract, then buy the material.
Another FYI, if you get the job, you better not book a date until you have ALL your material. Things we use to think nothing off and just stop by the SH to pick up, that is no longer the case due to material shortages. Panels, meter bases, breakers, plastic boxes, some PVC fittings, etc., are hard to get.
