Neutral wire in switch box

NEUTRAL WIRE in switch box for occupancies censor. residential and commercial are required ( 2011 CODE ) what about 3 way switches????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
 
This one has some more to it if I remember too. I'm not sure what the 2023 code says on it now
Yes, here it is from 404.2(C) of 2023:
Where multiple switch locations control the same lighting load
such that the entire floor area of the room or space is visible
from the single or combined switch locations, the grounded
circuit conductor shall only be required at one location.


Seems rather convuluted.

So if I put switches for a stairway around the corners of the stairwell, I'd need a grounded conductor in each location.

Seems rather dumb. Smart switches don't work that way. They don't care if they see each other or not.

I believe its for illuminated switches not smart switches
