This one has some more to it if I remember too. I'm not sure what the 2023 code says on it nowFor 3+ way switches, a neutral is only needed in 1 box.
Yes, here it is from 404.2(C) of 2023:This one has some more to it if I remember too. I'm not sure what the 2023 code says on it now
The concern is that the switch location with a grounded conductor can see the room's occupants.Smart switches don't work that way. They don't care if they see each other or not.
I believe its for illuminated switches not smart switchesYes, here it is from 404.2(C) of 2023:
Where multiple switch locations control the same lighting load
such that the entire floor area of the room or space is visible
from the single or combined switch locations, the grounded
circuit conductor shall only be required at one location.
Seems rather convuluted.
So if I put switches for a stairway around the corners of the stairwell, I'd need a grounded conductor in each location.
Seems rather dumb. Smart switches don't work that way. They don't care if they see each other or not.
It was put in because of occupancy sensors. The original ones powered the electronics by leaking to ground.I believe its for illuminated switches not smart switches
I stand correctedIt was put in because of occupancy sensors. The original ones powered the electronics by leaking to ground.
