Can a transformer this size be moved into place with an electric pallet jack or similar or would it need rigging?

The poles protecting the equipment would not be there.

We were doing that with a 1000 kva oil filled and as the operator picked it up and swung it away from the truck bed, the crane cable snapped at the upper sheave. Then the operator tried to blame our rigging!.
The operator had failed to put tension on the cable when driving, and it had worn thin at the upper sheave.
After they put the hook on the good part of the cable, the transformer was put back on the truck and sent back to the manufacturer for evaluation.

I had a video on my old company phone where a small city utility was trying to remove a pad mount transformer for a Walmart. Walmart engineers always put them next to the loading dock, and truckers are constantly hitting the bollards and knocking the transformer off the pads! Anyway, they brought a Derrick truck out and tried to lift it. The rope was singing! And after lifting it a couple of inches, decided they need a bigger truck, after it wouldn’t lift it, they hired a crane truck! LOL!
