Did a boo-boo on service

Got in a rush and was trying to save customer money on parts back fired the old Myers hub was not the Bonding Myers hub and I have to correct that, since the Ridgid is not bonded properly. I don't want to get power company to kill her power and all and cause her a fuss. I was thinking of doing a Pierce connector on the neutral at service mast and install a 2" pipe clamp on the service mast to bond it any reason a pipe clamp won't work.

Seen it done more than once and know of no restrictions. Some weatherheads have provision to add a lug accomplishing the same thing,

Why a Myers hub? Does the mast go into a standard meter hub?
The way they did it. I had to blow out the top of the meter for a Myers and use the standard hub to feed the old panel.
I was using used parts. I had around here to get us winner damaged meter back. Try to do as cheap as possible, then not backfiring for me. But o well

Yeah, but I gotta get the power company involved and then have them come out and then tell the customer I got killer power I’d rather just eat it. Go up on top for 60 bucks and get it done.
Not to install a wedge. I've done it with the service still hot.

Can you just install a bonding bushing on the Myers hub? They make split bushings that can go on after the wire is pulled.

Years ago when Myers hubs were actually owned my Myers there was a label on the box that showed that they were suitable for bonding service entrance raceways. I don't remember the exact wording and UL numbers.

Sometime later when Myers no longer existed I brought it up at a local electrical inspectors meeting. The inspectors and a UL rep that was there said the hubs are listed for service entrance bonding if the enclosure is metal and there were no additional concentric/eccentric KO's. The bonding type that have provisions for connecting a bonding conductor are for non metallic enclosures.

I have never felt comfortable what the true answer is. In today's time its almost impossible to talk to someone that actually understands and knows the answers to these questions.

If a grounding wedge or grounding lock nut is considered suitable how can the nut of a Myers hub not be? The Myers hub nut has many teeth that bite into the enclosure. A grounding lock nut doesn't touch the enclosure once you tighten the screw. Once you tighten the screw it lifts the nut away from the enclosure and Just the tiny point of the screw make contact.

I have always wondered if anyone has actually tested any of these things. Seems like a good quality locknut hammered in good and tight would be fine for service bonding and in fact better than a lot of these other hokey things like bonding bushings and bonding lock nuts. 😡

I guess I never really thought about it. Around here, the slang term Myers Hub covers both of the items shown below. It's pretty obvious that the one in the first photo can be purchased with a bonding connection (left item in the photo). I never really thought about whether the item in the second photo is listed for bonding? No inspector here has said anything about it when I've screwed a piece of 2" GRC into that thing. Or when I've used an SE cable fitting (the WP ones) and SE cable. Thoughts?

Thanks,

Mark

I could but take me 2 hours to coordinate with pud and owner, vs me just popping over when I feel like it
They do 10s a lot can you call them and see if you can do it legit at like 11am slap in the bonding myers or wedge. Their trouble guys up here usually dont have much going on then. Up north i never have much issue with them they're super accommodating vs pacific power.
