250.119(B) Multiconductor Cable. Where the conditions of main-NEC never permits re-identifying a conductor as an EGC, those must always be bare, green or green with yellow stripes, and for most part is not allowed to re-identify any those three for any other purpose either.
That said, the electrons still don't care what color insulation is, it will perform as it has been connected, any color requirement is only for identification purpose.
tenance and supervision ensure that only qualified persons ser-
vice the installation, one or more insulated conductors in a
multiconductor cable, at the time of installation, shall be per-
mitted to be permanently identified as equipment grounding
conductors at each end and at every point where the conduc-
tors are accessible by one of the following means:
(1) Stripping the insulation from the entire exposed length
(2) Coloring the exposed insulation green
(3) Marking the exposed insulation with green tape or
green adhesive labels
That said, this is in a residential install. So does that qualify as "Where the conditions of main-
tenance and supervision ensure that only qualified persons service the installation"? Also, qualified is quite a vague term.
