210.52(5) requires a receptacle over a peninsula counter,
(5) Receptacle Outlet Location. Receptacle outlets shall be located above, but not more than 500 mm (20 in.) above, the counter top.
Would it be code compliant to use a cord drop (pendent) from the ceiling as described in 210.50 (a)
(A) Cord Pendants. A cord connector that is supplied by a permanently connected cord pendant shall be considered a receptacle outlet.
I know it would look bizarre but I had to cut in a receptacle into the side of a kitchen cabinet today and it got me thinking about how many ways you could meet code in this situation. :D

I suspect it would meet code. Plugmold would also as well as some style pop up counter receptacles. Get the cord idea out of your head-- it would never fly with a homeowner.

But they could swing from it.

Or just do like I do sometimes and don't put them in at all.
(pennisula and island rec are optional in TN)

Does augie know that?

I'm sure he does. Of the inspectors I have dealt with he is one of the best.

(Maybe I will get some brownie points for posting this)
