210.70 habitable rooms

If I have a room with two entrances/exits can I have a switch at one and a dimmer at the other. 210.70(A)(2)(4) says I need a dimmer at each location for 210.70(A)(2)(3) which is additional locations.
help please!

Nowhere does it say you need a dimmer. And no you don't need a switch at both locations although it is a nice touch

I worded that terribly, if I do have a switch at each entrance/exit to a room. The customer wants a dimmer in room. Do I need to add a dimmer at each entrance or can I have a dimmer at one entrance and toggle switch at the other. Where can I find in code.

That is not in the code. They make switches where you can dim at both locations but it is expensive. A standard 3 way dimmer will work fine with a 3 way switch.

If you use a Maestro by Lutron you need a switch with a companion and that will dim in both locations

That’s not what he’s telling you.
He’s telling you how to do it if that’s what’s desired.

210.70(A)(2)(4) is referring to interior stairways only. If you choose to install a dimmer for the stairs, you need to be able to fully control the dimming from each of the locations required by 210.70(A)(2)(3)
