210.8 says I need GFI protection on the outlets in the bath (A)(1) and outdoors (A)(3)
I'm ok with installing GFI Outlets, but do I have to install GFI Breakers in the subpanel?
--------------------------------------------------
210.12 says I need AFCI Breakers on all "OUTLETS" for basically all the rooms (less Laundry and Bath)
The NEC Definition of "Outlet. A point on the wiring system at which current is taken to supply utilization equipment"
So.....
Does this mean that all circuits need to be AFCI protected?
I say
Plugs: Yes
Lights: No (I'm hoping anyway)
Smoke Detectors: No (I'm pretty sure here)
Basically both these questions relate to
A) Cost... what a difference in price between a regular breaker and a AFCI/GFI breaker $8 vs $35
B) Space.... I have enough subpanel (8 spots) but I'd rather use some Tandem breakers just so I have some extra spaces left and I haven't been able to find Tandem AFCI/GFI CB's.
