After 130+ posts it seems obvious to me that this section needs work. I would rest on my experience and say comfortably that a panelboard has never burst into flames or suffered any other adverse effects when the hots and neutral were run down opposite sides of the enclosure.

I would agree that this would never be an issue with a panelboard.
