Milbank makes a 320A meter/main with two 200a breakers in it. The p/n is U5059-X-2/200-K3L its ringless, dont know if thats the right kind for your poco

I'm looking at it right now.
And it's only $800:rolleyes:

But it seems to fit the lever bypass requirement.
I'm gonna call the POCO field engineer tomorrow and ask if this will work for them.

THANK YOU!

i bet you can get it for less than $800. Even at $800 its not that bad when you consider its the meter can, the disco, the two 200a breakers (theres $200 right there) and the time to put it all together. And this thing will look really clean compared to the other options.

So, I called POCO this AM. Talked to the Field Engineer...
"I am not allowed to make that decision. Here is the guy that wrote the standard."

Call guy that wrote the standard. No Answer. Message. Callback...
"Can you send that over? (I do) Hmm... I don't know... let me talk to the meter shop. I'll get back to you tomorrow..."

It's 8AM!!!

I am going over to the house at 1PM today. I will run official load calc's.
If I am over 320A, I will have to install a true 400A system with CTs and all...

Now, the HO wants to add forced air heating in the 2000 sqft. carriage house...

Gotta love it!

UGH pocos. If the thing has the same meter socket they accept now inside it, and it has the two 200a breakers you would be installing right next to their approved meter socket...what could be the issue?

So, the POCO is off duty by now, and I have no answer on my meter / main combo. I really liked that.

However,
- We have new information which sent us over the 320A limit.
- The carriage house is not the 2000sqft I was told... it is 3500 sq ft!
- The house is not 8000 sq ft... it is 8500 sq ft.
- In addition to the Hot Tub, they have a Pool as well...
- And 2 dishwashers, and a Sub Zero (would you expect anything less?)
- And 3 disposals
- And a double oven
- And...
- And...

- The list kept going on... and on... and on...

- I was at 326A without the Range.

- So, it will need to be a true 400A. With CTs and a 400A disco with 2 - 200 breakers and...
- Plus, we will be core drilling through a 20" plaster and lathe wall...

- We're desiging it as the POCO allows!

- So, any good places for a 400A disco with 2-200A breakers... NEMA 3?

I know I've said it before but what is the reason for the 400 amp disconnect when it's immediately followed by 2-200 amp breakers? Why not 2-200 amp fused disconnects/main breaker enclosures/main breaker feed-thru panels instead tapped right off the CT can?

Meyers / Ryco makes a 400A CT meter/main combo with up to 3 main breakers coming out of it. These are common in vegas where houses with 600a and 800a services are everywhere. I THINK the one you need is $1800 list, so probably around $1200

heres their catalog, http://www.myerspowerproducts.com/attachments/RYCO_Catalog.pdf 3MB pdf

go to pdf page 22, Wall-Hung CT Metering Equipment for a picture, and the next page P/N WCTML400-1D

Note: their catalog sucks and i dont know if another section is needed, you would have to talk to an app engineer.

Well,

The utility company just got back with me at 4:15PM...
Right now, they will not allow the Millbank combo kit that was suggested earlier.

That's ok, because we need a bigger unit now.

So, I am trying to see how they feel about the Meyers / Ryco combo unit.

The guy I am speaking to (even though he WROTE the line standards book) does not know what is acceptable and what is not acceptable.

So, we'll see what else can go happen there...
I asked him what their preference was, and he went back to the book... which I told him, does not apply...

He wants me to install CTs and a Meter and a Disco all seperately...

I'm trying to explain to him that this is historic Broadmoor, 11500 sq.ft. and he wants a 5' eyesore? I don't think so!

So, we'll see...

I am curious why they dont like the other milbank? maybe too cramped for their side? I would think the ryco should be ok, because i would think it has alot of room for them.

If they say no to it, please try to find out why.
