Yes they do.

What would be the issue, derating? 334.80 still allows #6 NM-B to be installed on up to a 60a amp breaker per table 310.16 60 degree column.

2002 requires the use of the 60 degree C ampacity in table 310.16. It's listed as 55 amps. So a 50 amp OCPD is code compliant.

I'm with 480 I have seen it also. It was on a range install from the 70's. When I first saw it I thought some one cut the ground out:-?. After striping the sheath back some, no ground. 1-blk 1-red 1-wht

Good to know. I've only seen smaller stuff, 14/2 and 12/2 w/o ground NM cables around here.

I have also seen 6/3 no ground, it was cloth covered. Very easy to strip!

The same generation of wire also produced 10/3 nm without ground. I have also seen and used 8/3 without ground that had a plastic jacket not cloth. I may even still have some in the basement. :smile:

I re-used it for a new 120v circuit too.. taped red with green.... go ahead call me a hack :grin:

no voltage drop on that 20A circuit. The customer [a friend] was given the 2 prices, do it to code, or just get it done safely, re-using copper.
