IS there really any reason we should have a bureaucracy to prohibit this? I dont have any problem with someone having a 1600A service.... I dont even have a problem with the POCO charging the customer a ton of money and still installing a 25KVA transformer and #2 service drop to serve it
In trying to look at both sides of this issue it’s hard to come up with a compromise. If someone has the $$$ and wants that large of an electric service why shouldn’t they be able to purchase it ? On the other hand, if you live in a bungalow and have a postage stamp size piece of property why would you need that big of a service? They are never going to put in an in-ground pool on the property, an AC unit isn’t going to be that big. What would be the biggest draw - a range, a dryer, a well pump?
