I opened an attic access today and found these gems.

All of the phone and tv lines were pulled to this opening. Here in the first picture you see the phone lines:

No longer will that piece of hardware be relegated to simply terminating grounding conductors!

Second, we have the tv connection.

Its kinda hard to tell in this pic, but what you have there is a grounding block w/ a #10 ground wire going to the sat. switch, then going nowhere. There is no ground connection to the service whatsoever.

What you don't see in the pic is a tag around these wires w/ the install date, name of the installer, and the name and address of the company that did it; the company is a local LV shop that advertises themselves as "professionals". Nice work guys. I think they've actually been in business longer than I've been alive. Oh and this job was done about 5 years ago; same house from the thread about the metal tape splice.

It looks like both pairs are landed on the same bar..
The phone did not work did it?

I worked with some guys that cut some cat 5 and just wire nutted back.. the most of the data wires did not work in this place.

the white/blue isn't landed on that same bar in that shot; they're just twisted together and hanging in free air.

Alrigty then...
I guess I needed a better pair of readers. not ...try using that close up feature on the Digi

Well that's not as glaring as the busbar job. The telco here uses the setscrew marrettes for joining 5 or more wires (any fewer are done with Scotchlocks) As practice, I do the same. That isn't to say that I haven't use regular yellow nuts to get the phones working before.
