And because of Larry and that $50 65 Corsa (wait, you can get a $50 car that performs this well?) I still drive Corvairs! :ROFLMAO:
Actually, it was $25, but I had to splice a foot of new wires into the main harness above the left axle shaft.

Plus, the secondary carbs (140 hp) had sheet-metal blocking plates under them, so I rebuilt all four carbs.

You mean NM? NMB came out in 1984..

Picky., picky,, picky...

aa8000 NM came out in 1972 or so!

I have never seen any evidence that NM using the AA-8000 series of alloys was ever manufactured. I know that single conductor aluminum in 10 and 12 AWG was manufactured around 1973/74.

The internet does. 😄

did not know that...I do know that the small conductor AA-8000 series alloys were only on the market for a few years.

Every SE cable I have seen has XHHW or THWN inners so there is no issue cannibalizing SE for individual conductors.
Do you have a manufacturer for that cable in NY?
I have never stripped SE cable and seen XHHW or anything printed on the wire.

If you look at any spec sheet: prysmian, general, south wire, priority , alcan.....they all say XHHW-2. I haven't dug into whether that is actually in the MC product standard, but I've never seen otherwise.

As soon as you strip that jacket off the cable is gone and the 'wire' is no longer marked.
If you have a source for SER that has printing on the wires like tray cable does I'd go out of my way to get it.
Sure occasionally it happens and I do it, especially if I don't feel like loosing my already illegal parking spot and driving an hour for a 3 foot piece of wire, but don't kid yourself, technically its a violation of 310.120.
If its a scrap piece of URD in the van I'd drive that hour.

I have never seen a piece of SER or MC that didn't have XHHW or THHN marked on the conductors. I have also never seen non- NEC URD. Even if I occasionally did, I've got bigger things to worry about. It's a non issue.

Funny I have never seen a piece of SER with the conductors marked, what brand do you use do you have a link?
Interesting, well I'm pretty sure every spec sheet you can find will say XHHW or THWN conductors, I guess that doesn't mean it's marked on the cable though. Alcan does specifically say it is marked on the conductors.
