Anyone else mandating 200A....?

200A service required - I ran into this in Wagoner, OK. About 3 or 4 years ago. Not a mandate, but the inspector said they strongly encourage everything to be a 200A service. The load calculation was well under 100A.

As we said at one old job I worked at, what do they care, it's not their money.
If the inspector wants you to do lighting circuits with 10 gauge, It's not your money just do it. At some point you have to put yoru foot down and say NO.

What code reference is given by the inspector?

Cheers, Wayne
He goes off of the CA electrification requirement that requires the buss bar to be 225A rated.

I asked for code section to no avail. After multiple emails, he not willing to see my load cals.

Frankly, the client doesn't want to deal with it and wants to get the service up and running.

OK, that's the section jaggedben and I were discussing. The full text is below.
